Vision: To prevent Short Sleep Undermining Cardiometabolic Health (SLUMBRx) by empowering the public to take control of their cardiometabolic health through improving their sleep and body composition.
Mission: The SLUMBRx lab will design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based, public health, health promotion, and health education interventions that address the pathogenesis, pathophysiology, and prevention of adipose and sleep-associated cardiometabolic disease risk factors. |
SLUMBRx Lab Research Assistants
Sarah Flora, MS, a Ph.D. student in Health Education and Health Promotion, is dedicated to advancing our understanding of the relationship between sleep and mental health. Sarah's academic journey began at Texas A&M University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in health and a master's degree in health education, complemented by a teaching certificate.
In her current role as SLUMBRx Lab Project Manager, Sarah demonstrates exceptional proficiency in managing study materials, fostering participant engagement, and providing crucial support throughout the home-based phase of the SLUMBRx study. Her meticulous attention to detail ensures the smooth execution of the research, laying the groundwork for impactful contributions to the field.

Alexis Drum hails from Mobile, Alabama, and is pursuing a major in Biology alongside a minor in Medical Ethics, and is on the Pre-Med track.
Following her graduation from the University of Alabama, Alexis is determined to further her education in medical school, aiming to achieve her dream of becoming a physician.
